My name is Mike Potegal. I am a pediatric neuropsychologist at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis (this is a fancy way of saying that I evaluate kids of all ages with all sorts of behavior and school problems.) My particular interest is in tantrums-I and my research team are trying to learn about how kid's tantrum behaviors relate to their feelings. In our current study, we are collecting home videos or DVDs that show an entire tantrum of a 2 or 3 year old, from beginning to end. We will pay $75 for videos that are submitted along with a tantrum calendar and a standard questionnaire about the child's personality. All material will remain confidential and used for research purposes only. Please contact me at poteg001@umn.edu before submitting anything.
I understand that Totspot is a safe site for parents to discuss their interests and concerns and that my message is a bit unusual. Thanks for allowing me to post it. To show my appreciation, and as a regular part of the study, I will be glad to discuss questions or concerns that people have about their children's emotional development.

Christmas Count down construction paper chain would be good for fine motor with the cutting and looping them together. Grab a hole punch and make a lace card out your favorite coloring book page and a piece of yarn or shoelace.
I am seeking some new games/activites to do with my daughter? We just tried out finger paints which we had a blast with...what are some other good ideas for her age?
umm side walk chalk...or stickers...or building up blocks and sayn ready set go then letting her knock them down...also u can do the same with a ball they love it even indoors u can roll the ball!! dancing is fun 2!!
any one know good indoor activities other than art we do it all the time!! or any appropriate games for 2 yrs almost 2 1/2in dec!???
Marsha,
I get a free weekly email from www.play-activities.com that has tons of great ideas! They're fun and educational things to do with your little one(s). I like that they tell you what they're "good for", too: this activity helps balance, gross motor control, visual processing, etc.
dltk-kids.com website has alot of kid-friendly crafts and games and is categorized by ages and themes! If she enjoyed fingerpaint--try using pudding for paint or shaving creme the table! Have you ever seen the bathtub color tablets that change the water color? That is fun too if you have a water table.
Indoor activities for 2 y/o: play tents, buy an old blow up swimming pool and fill it with balls to make a ball pit, play tents that have tunnels connected, or throw a blanket over a card table or kitchen table to turn into a tent..grab your flashlights and make hand/animal shadows.

absolutely! It works on the motor skills while you dig and plant, plus get out the fingerpaints and let them paint anddecorate the flower pot! Then it teaches them social skills as you teach them responsibility through caring for it, you couldeven make it a bit of a science project too depending on age and move the plant around periodically andwrite down what you observe if it is in direct sunlight, shade, outdoors, on a rainy day water, just write it all down and make a chart or something to show it's progress. ENJOY!
